Q. Are there any good beaches nearby?

A. Falmouth has four main beaches, Gyllyngvase, Castle, Swanpool and Maenporth, warmed by the Gulf Stream, which are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, exploring rock pools and building sandcastles.

 

Q. Where can I stock up on provisions?

A. The nearest supermarket is a two-minute walk from the marina or you can take a 20-minute walk alongside the river into Falmouth Town Centre for more shops.

 

Q. Are there any good walks?

A. One of the best ways to see Falmouth is by foot, using the Packet Walkway Guide, where the trail takes you through key vantage points in the port's history. There are also walks from Gyllyngvase Beach and around Pendennis Point. Try the Swanpool Nature Reserve.

 

 Q. What else can I do?

A. Cruise along the River Fal as far as Truro. Visit Daphne du Maurier's Frenchman's Creek. Falmouth Art Gallery is free to visitors. Falmouth Arts Centre stages films and plays. Take a trip to Pendennis Castle, built as part of Henry VIII's chain of south coast fortifications.

 

Q. Where is a good place to eat?

A. You can dine at the on-site Marine Bar and Restaurant, enjoying lovely waterfront views from the terraces. It specialises in fresh local produce, seafood, Mediterranean, and tapas. Many of the town's attractive old pubs serve food. Our marina reception staff are happy to help with names and directions. The Three Mackerel boasts some of the most spectacular views over Falmouth Bay.

 

 Q. What can we do when it rains?

A. The National Maritime Museum on Falmouth's Discovery Quay, tells the story of the sea and Cornwall with a range of hands-on displays of boats, showing their place in people's lives. It is open seven days a week. Younger visitors can try sailing a radio-controlled boat.
